Frequently Asked Questions
Westridge Athletics is where girls who compete become women who lead.
Girls learn much more than how to be a fierce competitor through their participation in Westridge Athletics; the high expectations we hold for our athletes are matched by the high level of support we provide them as they develop skills that extend beyond sports. Student athletes at Westridge benefit from the values of courage, resiliency, discipline, generosity, and more.
The Westridge Tigers compete in the prestigious Prep League and are a member of the California Interscholastic Federation, Southern Section (CIF-SS). Westridge offers 13 Upper School sports and 10 Middle School sports.
Upper School
Summer Athletics
For new Tigers playing fall sports—cross country, flag football, golf, tennis, and volleyball—summer is a great time to meet your future teammates and coaches and lay the foundation for your success in the upcoming year.
Upper School Athletics Preview Days take place June 8-19 (Monday through Friday, 2 hours per day or 3 hours for volleyball) and are mandatory for athletes playing fall sports. These days allow students to meet coaches and teams, learn about team expectations, and begin practicing with their teams. They also provide coaches with the opportunity to evaluate athletes fairly and ensure teams are prepared for the upcoming season.
More details will be shared with you this spring/summer. If you have questions about schedules, please contact Assistant Director of Athletics Jenna Wong at jwong@westridge.org and/or the head coach of your sport, who can be found on this list.
For athletes looking ahead to winter and spring sports, Preview Days will be held during the school year.

The cost for each camp is $200 per student per week, or $360 per week to participate in both camps.

Questions
-
For Upper School sports:
All athletic programs follow the same team placement standards. Athletes are placed on Frosh, JV, or Varsity teams based on skill level, experience, competitive readiness, and the needs of the program. Placement decisions are made by the head coach and coaching staff during preview days and summer practices. For fall sports, attendance at summer practices is strongly encouraged. Summer sessions allow coaches to evaluate athletes fairly and prepare teams appropriately. Consistent attendance reflects commitment to the program and supports readiness for the season. Due to the level of Upper School athletics commitments, athletes may select a maximum of one sport per season. We encourage dual sport and triple sport participation from athletes, but those sports must be in different seasons. For Middle School sports:
Middle School team placement takes place on the first two days of the season. Athletes are placed on either A or B team, depending on skill level and grade. -
For Upper School athletes playing fall sports, attendance to Summer Preview Days is mandatory. These summer practices are an important way for players to bond and coaches to determine appropriate team placement. Please refer to the information above.
For Middle School sports, all practices begin after the school year begins.

During the summer, Westridge does not provide transportation. Athletes are responsible for arranging their own transportation to any practices occurring before the first day of school.
During the school year, Westridge provides transportation to and from all off-site practices and competitions. Athletes are required to ride the team bus to off-site practices and competitions on school days. For weekend tournaments, transportation may be provided as needed.
Parents/guardians may pick up their athlete from off-site locations at the conclusion of practice or competition. Athletes may not remain unsupervised at any location.
